I write this journal in the morning of 20 October, because last night I was not in the mood to write anything. I was not intending to write anything in the first place, but the thoughts accumulated becoming concern, I think? No idea actually, it was just kept lingering in my mind.
The reason why I decided to write early in this morning about yesterday was what I read on Haikyuu manga about Kageyama. Actually I got many things from other characters too, but for now, I am gonna focus on Kageyama only. Perhaps there will be a bit about Hinata and Kita.
In chapter 375 – Polishing, there are some scenes where Hinata got flashbacks about Kageyama. He was asked by his beach volleyball partner,
Doing everything so diligently, do you not get tired of it?
I was wondering about this, too. Since from the very first time I watched the anime, Hinata seems to own a great amount of energy, and it seems like he never wore out. He was being asked again, is volleyball more of like a hobby to him, and Hinata reminded of Kageyama from that question.
In his flashback, Kageyama always took care of his nails and always wrote on his volleyball journal about his own development. Hinata explains more, that Kageyama probably doesn’t even think about it as an actual effort, more of like eating food, part of his daily routine.
Hinata’s viewpoint about Kageyama reminded me of Kita Shinsuke, Inarizaki volleyball team captain. Referring to chapter 274 – Captain, Kita was explained as someone whose technical plays still lacking in experience, but he was always diligent. It was before Kita was appointed as team captain. But at the moment, Kita is confident, not the “I am the strongest player”, but more of someone who knows he will never screw up.
There was one thing Kita said that was impressed me a lot,
I don’t understand the point of being nervous.”
Basically, he wanted to say why would you feel nervous when you can do it normally during practice. What I got here about his life-principle is, you can do anything without being nervous if you already getting used to it. The point is to make those things become habitual, incorporate it into your daily routines.
I really found this fascinating. Both of them, Kageyama and Kita, played well, and always maintained tranquility. Both of them delivered a really good example of how maintaining small good habits can turn you into something big. When any of both played on the court, they always kept composure, and of course, for me personally, it is a good sample to do so.
I also want to note what perceives me about Kageyama and Kita. Both of them are resembling each other, but so different in the other side. I’ve mentioned their similarities before. In my humble opinion, Kageyama really loves volleyball to the extent of he probably doesn’t care about anything else except eating. He just wanted to play, play longer and more, and meet stronger opponents, which will be explained in the latter chapters.
While for Kita, I still don’t get it if he really like volleyball or he just simply does what needs to be done. One thing for sure, he loves daily routine, as he said,
Repetition, perseverance, and diligence, just feels good.
Kita Shinsuke, in Haikyuu Chapter 274 – Captain
I was really surprised when I read the post-time skip, Kita choose to be a rice farmer. Although people said that he does not have enough capability to be a professional volleyball player, but I think his leadership skills and his tranquility could bring him into something else. He really just does not have any ambition or jealousy. I admired this side of him, and am thankful to Furudate-Sensei to bring out this type of character that give me another perspective of life-decision. Both of Kita and Kageyama really inspired me a lot to keep my routines being done.
