It has been a while since I did my first internship, and I just did my internship seminar last Wednesday. I am currently struggling on doing my report revision, so I decide to write this post otherwise.
I was working in a company that provides data monitor and analysis services. One thing that I worked on was sentiment analysis. Generally, sentiment analysis is you build a machine that can automatically classified public opinions and commentaries into positive, neutral or negative sentiment. I used Tensorflow and Keras python libraries to build this machine.
Ignore the technical details, I would tell you what I learned from this experience. I remembered vividly I was very anxious before this internship started. I was afraid I could not do well and get people in company disappointed, but it turned out to be a challenging experience. At first I knew nothing about machine learning (I was settled only on artificial intelligence course, didn’t take machine learning course!), but I got so many lessons about data science, data engineering, and data analysis, and why jobs around those fields are so popular these days. It’s all about data!
And of course, people are helpful. Most important thing that I forgot was, if I brave enough to ask for help, people will help. It’s okay to feel doubtful, anxious, or hopeless, at first, but you have to do something to resolve those feelings. And in this field, one thing that I find out very important to tackle those feelings are the ability to ask out for help. Knowledge and information are flowing dynamically and rapidly. There is no way you can master those all by yourself, unless if you collaborate with others. I am still trying to master that one skill, asking for help at the proper time.
P.S. You also refers to my own self. No intention to nag on anyone ^^
